Where oceans, rivers & journeys meet.
There is more than one way to explore the world by water.
Sail into tiny Mediterranean harbours. Follow rivers through the heart of ancient cities. Venture beyond the ordinary on an expedition to the edge of the world. Or discover the freedom of an intimate yacht journey.
Welcome to Where Waters Wander.
Curated cruising for travellers who want to experience more than the ship.
A DIFFERENT WAY TO CRUISE
Cruising isn’t one kind of holiday.
If the word “cruise” immediately makes you picture thousands of people, enormous ships and crowded buffets, there’s a much bigger world waiting to be discovered.
Today’s cruising can mean waking beside a tiny village on the Danube.
Sailing into a Mediterranean harbour that larger ships simply can’t reach.
Watching Antarctica appear outside your window.
Exploring the Galapagos with naturalist guides.
Crossing an ocean aboard an elegant luxury ship where the journey itself becomes part of the experience.
Or sailing between islands aboard an intimate yacht with barely a hundred other guests.
The question isn’t whether you’re a “cruise person”.
It’s which kind of cruising is right for you?
Four ways to wander by water
OCEAN
Ocean cruising can take you from intimate luxury vessels to extraordinary resort-style ships, each offering a completely different experience.
The secret isn’t simply choosing an itinerary.
It’s finding the ship whose atmosphere, dining, service, size, pace and style fit the way you like to travel.
I’ll help you navigate the options and find the experience that feels right for you.
Let the journey become part of the destination.
RIVER
River cruising is slow travel with a rather lovely advantage.
The scenery comes to you.
Wake somewhere new. Step ashore in the heart of town or city. Spend your day exploring and return to a familiar room, a beautiful meal and another landscape drifting past your window.
From Europe’s great waterways to the Nile, Mekong and beyond, river journeys offer an intimate way to experience a destination from within.
Travel through the heart of a destination.
Some places simply aren’t reached by road.
Antarctica. The Arctic. The Galapagos. Remote islands. Wild coastlines. Places where wildlife and landscape dictate the itinerary rather than the clock.
Expedition cruising combines remarkable destinations with specialist guides, immersive experiences and ships designed to take you beyond the usual routes.
You don’t have to be an adventurer who sleeps in a tent to experience the edge of the world.
Sometimes adventure comes with a very comfortable bed.
EXPEDITION
Go where ordinary journeys stop.
YACHT & SMALL SHIP
Smaller ship. Bigger experience.
There is something wonderfully different about travelling aboard a smaller vessel.
Fewer guests. Smaller ports. More intimate spaces. And access to places larger ships simply cannot go.
From luxury yachts slipping between Greek islands to elegant small ships exploring hidden Mediterranean harbours, these journeys can feel less like traditional cruising and more like having the world quietly unfold around you.
THE RIGHT SHIP CHANGES EVERYTHING
Your cruise should fit you. Not the other way around.
Two ships can sail almost exactly the same itinerary and deliver completely different holidays.
One might have thousands of guests, spectacular entertainment and endless things happening from morning until midnight.
Another might carry only a few hundred people, know your favourite drink by the second evening and spend longer in smaller ports.
Neither is automatically better.
They’re simply right for different travellers.
That’s why I look beyond the itinerary.
Ship size. Atmosphere. Dining. Service. Cabin style. Dress codes. Entertainment. Excursions. Time in port. What’s included. Who tends to travel aboard.
And, importantly, how you actually like to spend your holiday.
Because choosing the right ship can be every bit as important as choosing where it sails.
NOT SURE WHERE YOU FIT?
Let’s find your cruise style.
Luxury yacht or expedition ship?
River or ocean?
Two hundred guests or two thousand?
Formal evenings or barefoot luxury?
There are more ways to cruise than every before, which is wonderful until you’re the one trying to choose between them.
That’s where I come in.
Tell me how you like to travel and I’ll help you narrow the enormous world of cruising into the styles, ships and journeys worth considering for you.
The journey doesn’t begin at the gangway.
Some of my favourite cruise itineraries actually begin before you ever step aboard.
A few nights wandering Rome before sailing the Mediterranean.
A slow journey through Switzerland before meeting your river cruise in Basel.
Safari in South Africa before sailing from Cape Town.
Tokyo and Kyoto before exploring Japan by sea.
Or perhaps staying behind when everyone else heads to the airport and spending another week discovering somewhere wonderful.
I’ll help you look at the entire journey, not simply the cruise.
Flights. Stopovers. Hotels. Private touring. Rail journeys. Transfers. Restaurants and experiences.
The cruise might be the centrepiece, but it doesn’t have to be the whole story.
The cheapest fare isn’t always the best value.
Cruise pricing can be surprisingly complicated.
Drinks included on one ship but not another.
Excursions included here, specialty dining charged there.
Wi-Fi, gratuities, transfers, onboard credit, airfares and different cabin categories can make two apparently similar prices anything but similar.
I’ll help you look at what you’re actually getting for your money rather than simply comparing the number at the bottom of the advertisement.
Because sometimes spending a little more upfront delivers a very different experience once you’re aboard.
YOUR CRUISE MATCHMAKER
I don’t want to sell you a cruise.
I want to find you the right one.
There are cruise lines I adore.
But that doesn’t mean every one of them is right for every traveller.
My role is to understand what matters to you first, then use my experience, supplier relationships and knowledge of the industry to narrow down the options.
Sometimes the answer will be an intimate luxury ship.
Sometimes a river cruise.
Sometimes an expedition.
And occasionally, after talking it through, we might discover that cruising isn’t what you’re looking for at all.
That’s perfectly fine too.
The goal isn’t to put you on a ship.
It’s to create the right journey.
